Ama Adansi-Pipim creates ceramic objects focused on cultural narratives, artefacts and the importance of home, drawing inspiration from her Ghanaian heritage, British upbringing and surroundings.

Ama's creative practice consists of two main strands: sculptural collectible objects and design products. Her bodies of work encompass both functional and non-functional pieces, utilising various exploration processes, such as hand-carving or wheel-throwing. These works are enhanced with engobes and muted earthy-tone glazes. The shapes she creates symbolise everyday pathways back home, interwoven with modernity and her cultural identity.

Influenced by her experience as a designer, Ama’s design process is an integral part of every project. She enjoys bringing ideas to life.

Ama lives and works between Auckland, New Zealand and London, UK but is currently based at Cockpit Arts (Bloomsbury) in London.
